Warren G. Harding
Warren G. Harding goal as the President was to help the U.S. return to a "normal" life after World War I. Harding made the mistake of giving cabinet posts and high-level jobs to his friends and political allies. They became known as the Ohio Gang that was known for drinking, playing poker, and smoking. In addition, the Ohio Gang sold government jobs, pardons, and protection from prosecution. Scandals such as the Forbes scandal cost taxpayers $250 million dollars during the Harding presidency.
