Women's Suffrage
Women's struggle for the right to vote is called women's suffrage. Some of the major contributors to the women's suffrage movement include Lucy Burns, Carrie Chapman Catt, Alice Paul, and Susan B. Anthony. Lucy Burns and Alice Paul led many protest throughout Washington against the Wilson Administration. The National Women's Party led by Alice Paul became the first to picket outside of the White House. Carrie Chapman Catt was the president of the National American Women Suffrage Association and the founder of the League of Women Voters and International Alliance of Women. Susan B. Anthony was a founder of National Women Suffrage Association. By creating this association women were able to express their right to vote. She also These women all very helpful in contributing to the 19th Amendment being passed on August 18, 1920. It was designed to allow people the right to vote no matter what their sex was. Overall the amendment was a step in the right direction for women's freedom.
